You probably noticed that the front page of your child's lyric packet lists 4 field trips that are coming up fast - don't panic! You will get permission forms to fill out in advance of each of these field trips/performances, but here's a quick bit of information about them:
1. October 13th (Thursday evening) (moved from September 29th) - Spaghetti Dinner at the school (a fundraiser for 5th grade camp).
2. October 16th (Sunday afternoon) - Performing "Lo Yissa Goy" with the Bel Canto Performing Arts Society at Daniels Recital Hall downtown. Choir families will each receive 2 complimentary tickets.
3. October 19th (Wednesday) - Seattle Central Community College.
4. November 10th (Thursday) - The choir's performance for Lawyers Helping Hungry Children is becoming an annual event to look forward to!
For the first of these performances, the spaghetti dinner on October 13th, you can expect your child to sing "Higher and Higher," "Yes I Can," and "Grandma's Hands." On the 16th the choir will sing "Lo Yissa Goy," accompanying the Bel Canto Performing Arts Society. We will make sure that you have audio versions of these songs for in-home use soon, and they should be the first that you learn (numbers 1, 2, 3, and 9 in your lyric book).
If you indicated that you may be available to chaperone field trips we will contact you in advance to see whether you are available. Because of the level of engagement required, please note that chaperoning does not lend itself to multitasking with other work and family commitments, such as checking in with the office.
